An e-cargo bike doesn't build itself—although we sometimes wish it would. Turning a bare frame into a fully functional Simply.Lift STEPS requires not only craftsmanship but also the right tools. But don't worry, we'll take you on a little tool tour—with a wink! 😉
1. The Allen key – the multi-tool for almost everything
Whether it's handlebars, stems, or fenders, nothing will work without a good set of Allen keys (also called hexagon wrenches). These are essentially the Swiss Army knife of bicycle construction. Tip: These things mysteriously disappear all the time in the workshop, so always have a few spare keys on hand!
2. The torque wrench – for sensitive screws with finesse
If you don't want your handlebars to break while riding or your seatpost to jam, you need a torque wrench. It ensures that all bolts are tightened with just the right amount of pressure—not too tight, not too loose. It's worth its weight in gold!
3. The chain riveter… oh no, we don’t need that!
The Simply.Lift STEPS doesn't have a traditional bicycle chain drive, but rather a maintenance-free carbon belt drive. This means no oiling, no rust—and no chain riveting!
4. The spoke wrench – for perfect concentricity
To ensure the wheels stay nice and straight and don't start to wobble, we use a spoke wrench. This small but effective tool allows you to precisely adjust the spokes. By the way: If you make a mistake here, you can quickly turn a wheel into a figure-eight.
5. The rubber hammer – because brute force sometimes helps
Not all components will slide into place on the first try. A gentle tap with a rubber mallet can work wonders – and prevent unsightly scratches. Sometimes a little "gentle persuasion" is just what's needed.
6. The bottom bracket wrench – for power transmission
To ensure the Shimano motor's power is optimally transferred to the pedals, the bottom bracket must fit perfectly. Using a bottom bracket wrench, we tighten the component precisely – for maximum efficiency on every ride.
7. The tire lever – for airy matters
If a tire needs to be replaced, tire levers are indispensable. These little helpers ensure that the tire can be removed from the rim without breaking your fingers. Practical and a must-have in every bike repair shop!
Conclusion: Nothing works without tools – but we’ll do it for you!
From the finest precision to meticulous adjustments – building the Simply.Lift STEPS would be impossible without the right tools. Luckily, you don't have to worry about that, because we'll take care of it for you. And if a minor adjustment is necessary, a simple Allen key is usually enough. So don't worry – you don't need a professional workshop to enjoy your STEPS!
