The most affordable e-cargo bike in its class
Compared to other e-cargo bikes* in its class, the Simply.Lift STEPS is the most affordable. We firmly believe that a good bike with high-quality features and an efficient drive system does not have to be expensive. In our opinion, the following criteria make up a good price-performance ratio.
Configure your bike now →Everything from a single source – we use the entire drive train from Shimano, including the 4-piston disc brakes. All other components come from well-known manufacturers such as Ergotec, SKS, Schwalbe and Selle Royal, all in high-quality brand names. This makes handling easy, safe and efficient.
Many different manufacturers – even if they are high quality – make the entire bike confusing and maintenance difficult. Expensive, oversized components are often installed that are not used in everyday life.
Carbon belts, hub gears and high-quality components ensure low-maintenance and long-lasting riding pleasure.
In most cases, a carbon belt is not part of the standard equipment and must be added at a significant additional cost. Derailleur gears require a lot of care and maintenance.
The STEPS rides like a normal bike, but is essentially a real cargo bike. The frame, which is specially certified for cargo, the suspension fork and the low weight of 26 kg allow you to ride in a relaxed manner, even with a heavy load. It also fits in any bike cellar and can also be taken on the train or in the car.
The models we compare ourselves with are considerably heavier (30-38 kg) and in some cases significantly larger. In addition, suspension is not always part of the standard equipment.
The best cargo bike is of no use to you if no one can repair it quickly and inexpensively. Use the Germany-wide Shimano service network and find dealers near you.
Especially for bikes that are not built in Germany, it can be difficult to find a dealer who can professionally repair your bike.

Your safety is very important to us. This is especially true for our little passengers. In combination with the robust frame construction, you are always safe on the road.
transporting children by e-bike
If you want to take children with you on your bike, you must observe the legal regulations: According to the Road Traffic Regulations (Section 21, Paragraph 3 of the Road Traffic Act), only people aged 16 or over are allowed to transport children up to the age of 7 on an (e-)bike, provided that they are provided with a suitable seat.
child transport up to 6 years
For children up to 6 years (15-22 kg) we recommend the child seat “Air” from the manufacturer Qibbel.
child transport from 6 years
Children from 6 years (up to 35 kg) ride well with the “Junior” model from Qibbel.
child transport from 7 years
From the age of 7, your child can sit on the seat cushion - this can also be optionally supplemented with the child handle or the child handrail.
Maximum load of 150 kg
When transporting children, please make sure that the maximum load is 150 kg. Note that the body weight of the person riding and the children, as well as any other loads, must not exceed 150 kg. Please do not take more than two children with you and ensure that they are always properly secured and wear a helmet.
bicycle feeling with 150 kg load capacity
Despite its compact design, the Simply.Lift STEPS is a real cargo e-bike with a payload of 150 kg, making it the perfect car replacement. Whether you're commuting to work, doing the shopping or taking your children to daycare, the STEPS will never let you down.
Long range for extended bike tours
The Simply.Lift STEPS has become significantly more efficient in terms of range. The SHIMANO system offers a range of up to 150 km under optimal conditions. Of course, this figure also depends on various factors such as support level, outside temperature, speed, gradient, load and breaks in the journey.
A new chapter begins: the Simply.Lift STEPS is being built in Hamburg
Our goal is to develop innovative mobility solutions that are both environmentally friendly and user-friendly. At the same time, we attach great importance to ensuring that the production of our bikes meets the highest quality standards. That's why we manufacture our bikes directly in Hamburg, where we can guarantee complete quality control over every single component.
At €3,490.00, the Simply.Lift STEPS is more expensive than the NEO, but offers outstanding value for money. High-quality components are included in the basic price and thanks to increased efficiency, no expensive battery upgrade is necessary.
Your questions, our answers.
Why is there now the STEPS instead of the NEO?
Due to numerous customer requests for more range and comfort, we relocated production to Germany and developed the new STEPS.
Why Shimano instead of hub motor?
Shimano offers reliable components and a large service network. The hub motor of the NEO was powerful, but not as easy to maintain and user-friendly as the new STEPS.
What do you use from Shimano?
The Simply.Lift STEPS has the E5000 drive, the NEXUS 5-speed hub gear and 4-piston disc brakes. All components, including the battery and charger, are from Shimano for best service and compatibility.
Are there any other differences to the NEO?
The Suntour suspension fork offers 80 mm of travel and ensures greater stability and comfort, especially under load.
Is everything new or were parts taken from the NEO?
The geometry and the "Simply concept" remain the same. The frame is made of aluminum, the luggage rack is integrated, and the load capacity is still 150 kg. The STEPS uses Schwalbe PickUp tires and a low-maintenance carbon belt drive.
Are there any details that you are particularly proud of?
We are proud of the great overall result, but there are actually details that bring great joy. The new Selle Royal saddle has an integrated handle, which makes it easier to push the bike and put it on the stand, and the handle can give small passengers additional support. The new headlights from Busch & Müller are also integrated into the suspension fork.
150 km range – is that realistic?
The range of 150 km can be achieved under ideal conditions in ECO mode. Thanks to the efficiency of the E5000 motor and the hub gears, the Simply.Lift STEPS offers considerable ranges, is easy on the wallet and the environment.
Is STEPS now “Made in Germany”?
Many parts come from Europe, e.g. the frame from Bulgaria, wheels and lighting from Germany. The bike is assembled in Hamburg and offers the best quality and reliability.
Why does the STEPS cost €1,000 more than the NEO?
The innovations require a price adjustment, but the STEPS offers an unbeatable price-performance ratio. Many high-quality components are integrated as standard. We also offer 0% financing via PayPal and Klarna and shipping is free for you.
Where can you test drive the Simply.Lift STEPS?
The best place to do it is at home! As with every online shop, all Simply.Bike customers have a 14-day right of withdrawal with no ifs and buts and no costs! The bike comes almost fully assembled and you can get started after 15 minutes. We are of course also available by phone for questions in advance and for the first steps.
Anyone interested from the north is welcome to test ride a bike with us in HH Bergstedt by arrangement. Perhaps we can offer additional test centers in the future.
